Elderly Woman Defrauded of €50,000 in Eitorf Balcony Scam
An elderly woman from Eitorf was defrauded out of €50,000 on Thursday, September 18. The fraudster, a woman aged 30 to 35 with chin-length dark hair, light shoes, and a black, knee-length dress, received the cash app funds from the victim's balcony.
The fraud began with a caller claiming to be the victim's granddaughter, urgently needing cash for medical treatment. The victim, emotionally manipulated, handed over the cash to an alleged police officer. Later, when she asked her daughter about her granddaughter's condition, she realised she had been deceived. The woman then got into the back seat of a beige taxi driven by a man and left the scene. The Rhein-Sieg Circle Police Department is seeking information about the crime and suspects.
The police advise caution against such fraud attempts. They urge people not to give out sensitive information or cash to strangers over the phone. The perpetrators in both highlighted cases remain unidentified.
