Electronic close-ended fund trading platform unveiled by Octaura
Octaura Holdings, a leading player in the digital trading of financial assets, has recently launched an electronic trading platform specifically designed for Collateralised Loan Obligations (CLOs). The platform, which was preceded by Octaura's syndicated loan trading platform launched in 2022, aims to revolutionise the CLO market by addressing existing inefficiencies.
According to Brian Bejile, the CEO of Octaura, the launch of the CLO platform and BWIC protocol is a significant leap forward for the industry. The platform introduces a unified framework for improved transparency and execution, making it easier for institutional investors to participate in the CLO market.
The platform, now fully operational, has been facilitating live transactions with early adopter firms in beta for several months. However, the specific institutions that have conducted live transactions on Octaura's electronic CLO platform in recent months remain undisclosed.
The CLO platform and BWIC protocol developed by Octaura are aimed at the US CLO market. The platform was launched with three trading protocols: Bilateral, Request for Quote (RFQ), and Lists. While no new trading protocols have been announced, it is expected that Octaura will continue to innovate and expand its offerings within the structured credit markets.
Brian Bejile claims that institutional investors have been hindered from fully participating in the CLO market due to structural inefficiencies. By reducing operational friction and providing a unified framework for improved transparency and execution, Octaura's platform is poised to change the narrative surrounding the CLO market.
Despite the platform's expansion into the structured credit markets, no new information was provided about its ability to service markets beyond the US CLO market. Regardless, the launch of Octaura's CLO platform is a promising development for the digital trading of CLOs, offering a more efficient and transparent solution for institutional investors.
