Livening Up Municipal Transport in Krasnodar Krai: A Multi-Billion Ruble Makeover

After a substantial investment of over 12.5 billion rubles since 2015, Krasnodar's municipal transport system is undergoing a significant overhaul - a revitalization not seen in decades. Cities like Sochi and Novorossiysk have chipped in nearly 6 billion and 1.2 billion rubles respectively, ively freshening up their fleets with low-floor buses and electric vehicles.

New additions to the bus fleet are kitted out with air conditioning, run on eco-friendly methane, and boast air suspension for an easy ride, especially for individuals with disabilities. They also feature wide rear doors and extendable ramps for enhanced accessibility.

The introduction of these modern buses in 2020, with 20 in Krasnodar alone, has brought about a significant uptick in comfort and safety.

"These vehicles are smoother and more enjoyable to navigate, making both driving and commuting a breeze," shared Sergei Koshelev, a seasoned driver on route No. 1 in Krasnodar.

Artem Artemyev, deputy general director of the transport company, echoed the positive feedback, noting, "feelings are running high among drivers, with passengers expressing their appreciation for these new-age rides."

Over the past decade, the Krasnodar Krai's road fund has experienced a meteoric rise, growing from 13 billion to a hefty 60 billion rubles. Over the course of 10 years, nearly 6,000 kilometers of regional and inter-municipal roads underwent repair, propelling Krasnodar Krai to the forefront of the national project "Safe and High-Quality Roads."

Alexander Grachev, director of MUP KTTU, praises the new fleet, sharing, "this is a modern lineup that adheres to all safety and comfort standards, featuring enviable air conditioning systems designed with the disabled in mind."

Plans for the development of Krasnodar's road network extend up until 2035, with a colossal budget of over 150 billion rubles. This ambitious program encompasses the construction of fresh roadways, overpasses, and bridges, including repairs to the iconic Turgenyev Bridge.
