German pasta manufacturer, Riesa Pasta GmbH, has increased its production capacity following the acquisition and installation of a new spaetzle and extruded pasta machine. The machine, sourced after the closure of Schätzle GmbH in Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg, was operational from Monday, following a four-month installation period.

At full capacity, the machine allows for the production of an additional 20,000 metric tons of pasta every year, according to a representative from Riesa-based company. Currently, production stands at 25,000 metric tons.

Riesa Pasta GmbH, which employs around 150 people, has been under the ownership of the Freidler entrepreneurial family from Baden-Württemberg since 1993. The family also owns Alb-Gold, a Swabian pasta manufacturer. Since early October, Biavest, an Irish investment company specializing in the food sector, has seized an 80% stake in the company. The company recorded an annual turnover of €40 million in 2022.

The acquisition and installation of new machinery could enhance production efficiency and capacity, potentially leading to increased annual turnover when market demand is met effectively. Although the exact impact on production capacity and annual turnover of Riesa Pasta GmbH is not specific, the investment aligns with the growing pasta product manufacturing industry in Germany, with a predicted CAGR of 0.7% between 2020 and 2025.

  1. The increase in production capacity at Riesa Pasta GmbH, due to the new spaetzle and extruded pasta machine, presents an opportunity for higher annual turnover in the food-and-drink sector, as the machine allows for an additional 20,000 metric tons of pasta production each year.
  2. With the acquisition by Biavest, an Irish investment company focusing on the food sector, Riesa Pasta GmbH now has the financial resources to invest in business growth, such as the recent installation of a new machine, which could contribute to the expansion of the pasta industry in Germany.
  3. The lifestyle choices of consumers have an impact on the food-and-drink industry, including pasta manufacturing. As more consumers pursue healthier dietary options, finance plays a crucial role in enabling companies like Riesa Pasta GmbH to research and develop healthier pasta varieties, thereby meeting the changing demands of the market.
