Expanding Electric Connection in Sochi: Electricity to Link Mountain and Coastal Regions
Commuter trains will expand on the Rosa Khutor - Imeretinsky Resort route as of June 1st, the "Kuban Express-Prigorod" press service announced. Starting from this date, daily electric trains will connect coastal and mountain areas of Sochi, with Train No. 6040/6039 departing at 12:48 and arriving at the destination by 13:24. In the reverse direction, Train No. 6064/6063 will leave Imeretinsky Resort at 14:00, reaching Rosa Khutor at 14:36.
However, it's worth noting that residents of Russian regions are unable to buy tickets for trains to Krasnodar Krai. This restriction stems from a shortage of tickets for return trips during the summer of 2024. In August, travelers found themselves stranded in Anapa, with the Russian Union of Tour Operators advising them to return to the resort by bus. To prevent a recurrence, RZD has stated that they will add more carriages and services if necessary.
This summer, around 170 pairs of trains will be operating along the Black Sea coast, performing nearly 29,000 services, a 3% increase compared to the same period last year.
