Following the incident, the vintage Greyhound fire truck has been restored.

The historic Garant K30 fire engine of the Graupa Volunteer Fire Brigade was involved in an accident on its way to the annual general meeting of the Pirna fire brigade on March 22, 2024. The incident occurred when the fire engine, which was polished and shining for its 100th anniversary, collided with a Mercedes tank fire-fighting vehicle.

Deputy Fire Chief Benjamin Felden confirmed that the collision caused approximately 20,000 euros in property damage. The traditionally maintained fire engine was severely damaged, particularly in the front area. Despite the extensive damage, the Grauapers were able to save and repair one component, a side part, from the damaged fire engine.

The fire engine was carrying seven occupants at the time of the accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Garant K30 fire engine will be officially presented for the first time on Saturday morning. The event, which is part of an exercise under the motto "Fire brigade in transition - then and now", will take place in front of the equipment house. The fire engine will be in action between 16:00 and 17:00 on Saturday.

In a surprising turn of events, 90% of the destroyed body parts from the fire engine have been gifted to the Saxon Fire Museum in Zeithain. Spare parts for such an old vehicle are more than scarce, according to Felden, making the donation all the more significant.

However, the search results do not contain information about who donated the damaged parts for the repair of the old vehicle of the Freiwilligen Feuerwehrverein Graupa.

The starting of the air-cooled vehicle during the exercise is expected to attract spectators. The incident has not dampened the spirits of the Graupa Volunteer Fire Brigade, who are determined to showcase their historic fire engine in all its glory.
