Former JSC Director Bulat Utemuratov Wanted Internationally Over 'Kok-Tobe' Corruption Case

A former director of JSC Samruk-Kazyna Construction, Bulat Utemuratov, is now wanted internationally. This follows a major corruption case involving the 'Kok-Tobe' residential complex. The leader of LLC 'Dorstroytrest', Nurabaev, was recently sentenced for embezzling and misappropriating budget funds, with 650 million tenge transferred through fictitious contracts and withdrawn in cash.

The scandal began with an advance payment of 2.6 billion tenge made to LLC 'Dorstroytrest' for construction work. However, the project was marred by violations, delays, and misuse of funds. Nurabaev was found guilty and received a seven-year prison sentence. His ill-gotten property, valued at 131 million tenge, was also confiscated.

The embezzled funds were intended for the construction of the 'Kok-Tobe' residential complex. Despite the significant advance, the work was not completed on time and a substantial portion of the money was misused.

The international wanted status of Bulat Utemuratov, the former director of JSC Samruk-Kazyna Construction, highlights the seriousness of the case. The sentencing of Nurabaev and the confiscation of his property send a strong message about the consequences of such actions. The 'Kok-Tobe' residential complex remains incomplete, leaving questions about the future of the project and the recovery of the misused funds.
