In a significant development for the Vietnamese banking sector, HDBank has secured a US$215 million syndicated loan on July 31, 2023. This landmark agreement, signed with three international financial institutions - Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), FinDev Canada, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) - underscores the international community's confidence in HDBank's performance, vision, and responsible growth strategy.

This syndicated loan stands as one of the largest ever extended by international lenders to a Vietnamese joint stock commercial bank, in support of sustainable development goals. It is also one of the first syndicated loan collaborations between FinDev Canada, JICA, and SMBC.

The loan is structured into three tranches with tenors of three and five years. It will enhance HDBank's financial capacity, bolstering its sustainable finance agenda. The funds will be allocated to sectors with high social and economic impact, such as green projects, sustainable agriculture, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), women-led businesses, and low-income groups through social housing credit programs.

It strengthens VPBank’s Sustainable Prosperity strategy guided by ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles. The project also aims to expand financial access, particularly benefiting women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises, thus advancing financial inclusion and sustainable development goals in Vietnam.
