In a significant move, global law firm XYZ has announced the promotion of 47 lawyers to partner and director positions, effective from January 1, 2021. The promotions span 11 practice groups, reflecting the firm's commitment to growth and excellence.

The litigation and disputes practice group saw the most promotions with 14 lawyers, followed by corporate, M&A and securities with 10. The banking and finance department also witnessed a notable boost with 9 promotions.

In South Africa, Bryce Perrett was promoted to litigation and disputes in Durban, while Ugendran Odayar was promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in the same city. Carol Holness was also promoted to litigation and disputes in Durban.

Across the globe, Gerry Pecht, Global Chief Executive of XYZ, congratulated the promoted lawyers for their accomplishments. Notable promotions include Nicki Milionis in Melbourne, Australia, who was promoted to employment and labor, and Heather Cameron, also in employment and labor, in Ottawa, Canada.

In the United States, Sumera Khan was promoted to litigation and disputes in Houston, Texas, and Utsav Mathur to litigation and disputes/energy and infrastructure. Bob Bruner was promoted to bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insolvency in Houston, and Aaron Stephenson to bankruptcy, financial restructuring & insolvency/litigation and disputes in Calgary, Canada.

In Canada, Rajaee Rouhani was promoted to risk advisory in Melbourne, Australia, and Reneé Loiselle to corporate, M&A and securities in Montréal. Jennifer Hodgins was promoted to employment and labor in Toronto, and Laila Paszti to corporate, M&A and securities/data protection, privacy and cybersecurity. Kate Findlay was also promoted to litigation and disputes in Toronto.

Steven Choi was promoted to real estate/construction and engineering in Sydney, Australia, and Kirstin Russell to banking and finance in London, England. Noah Schein was promoted to banking and finance in Toronto, Canada, and Katie Van Dyk to real estate in Austin, United States.

The firm promoted 25 female lawyers globally, representing 53% of the promotions. This includes Alexandra Shields in employment and labor in Sydney, Australia, and Kaitlin Long in litigation and disputes in Calgary, Canada.
