Goodluck India Ltd has received a significant licence to produce a wide range of artillery shells, marking a substantial expansion in its defence capabilities. The company's shares reached a peak of Rs 1,349 on 3rd October, though they closed unchanged.
The licence, obtained under the Indian Arms Act of 1959, covers various artillery sizes and specialised shells. These include 105mm, 120mm, 125mm, 130mm, and 155mm, as well as specific types like HE M107, ERFB, ERFB BB, and ERFB BIT.
Goodluck India plans to commence production of 155mm artillery shells in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. The new facility will initially have a capacity of 150,000 shells per year, with ambitions to increase this.
In a strategic move, Goodluck India has signed a tripartite MoU with BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd and Axiscades Technologies Ltd. This collaboration focuses on the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, indicating the company's growing involvement in advanced defence systems.
Chairman Mahesh Chandra Garg expressed pride in the licence approval, stating it demonstrates the company's technical prowess and strengthens its role in India's defence sector.
Goodluck India Ltd's new licence allows it to produce a broad range of artillery shells, catering to both domestic and international demand. With trial production slated for the third quarter of FY26 and full commercial operations to follow, the company is poised to play a significant role in India's defence ecosystem.
