Göttingen's District Heating Network Expansion Underway

Göttingen's climate plan is underway with the expansion of the district heating network. The project began in February 2025 and is set to finish by late summer 2025. Key areas include Eichendorffplatz and Düstere-Eichen-Way, which will be fully closed from May 26, 2025, for the work.

The expansion is a crucial step towards increasing the city's renewable heat supply, as outlined in Göttingen's climate plan. Once completed, the municipal utilities of Hannover (Stadtwerke Hannover) will continue work on Dahlmannstraße, following the expansion in the Düstere-Eichen-Way area, scheduled for October 2025. After this phase, the city's utility company and waste management will take over to finish the work on Dahlmannstraße.

The district heating network expansion, set to finish by late summer 2025, is a significant milestone in Göttingen's commitment to renewable energy. The project's completion will pave the way for further work on Dahlmannstraße by the city's utility company and waste management.
