Government enforces stricter attendance policies, introduces flexible working schedules, restructures hiring procedures

Attention All Government Workers!

Get ready for some major changes in how you clock in and out, as well as potential scheduling flexibility! The Civil Service Bureau has kicked off a wave of reforms, starting with a digital fingerprint attendance system.

As of August 18, 2024, you'll be saying goodbye to traditional attendance sheets. Instead, you'll verify your presence by simply placing your fingertip on your phone while at work. This new system, aimed at eliminating attendance violations, is expected to streamline the process and save time.

In addition to a more efficient attendance process, the Bureau is also introducing an evening work schedule across all government entities. This move is designed to cater to those who aren't able to visit during regular business hours. Now, you'll have the opportunity to complete your transactions in the evening.

But wait, there's more! The new system offers employees the chance to choose a work schedule that best suits their needs, all while adhering to the Bureau's regulations.

On the hiring front, the Civil Service Council has implemented a new recruitment mechanism. This system prioritizes first-time applicants registered in the nomination system, with those who reject initial job offers being automatically re-nominated based on organizational needs.

In a bid to promote transparency and equal opportunity, the Bureau has restricted job nominations exclusively to its automated system, nixed individual nomination requests, and shortened the registration period.

Although there's no official info on the exact dates, some key decisions have been made concerning these changes:

  • August 14, 2024: Circular issued for fingerprint verification during working hours.
  • October 15, 2024: Council of Ministers orders implementation of evening work shifts.
  • October 20, 2024: Bureau releases regulations for evening shift work.
  • November 7, 2024: New recruitment mechanism adopted by the Civil Service Council.

Keep an eye out for more updates on these exciting changes! Remember, cheerios!

In the context of these reforms, the Civil Service Bureau has not only focused on attendance processes but also introduced changes in business hours. Startting October 15, 2024, government entities will offer evening work schedules, offering convenience for those who can't visit during regular business hours. Also, as part of the new recruitment mechanism adopted by the Civil Service Council on November 7, 2024, first-time applicants registered in the nomination system will be prioritized, which could potentially impact the finance and human resources departments.

Government agencies enforce digital attendance via fingerprint system, as per Civil Service Bureau's August 18, 2024 circular. Al-Rai daily reports this move aims to eradicate attendance irregularities by digitally confirming staff presence. On-site workers can now authenticate their attendance via fingerprints.
