GTIRVE to Continue in 2024, Boosting Germany's EV Charging Infrastructure

The GTIRVE, a working group focused on electric vehicle charging infrastructure, will continue its operations in 2024. Joan Groizard, Director General of IDAE, confirmed this news, highlighting the group's achievements and plans for the future.

Since its inception in 2022, the GTIRVE has streamlined procedures such as the Responsible Declaration, making it easier for stakeholders to engage in eMobility development. In its initial meetings, the working group Elektromobilität-Ladestationen-Infrastruktur synthesized findings from previous projects like 'Wirkkette Laden' and compiled them into the '12 Design Principles for Public Charging Stations'. This catalog includes mandatory and recommended guidelines to improve the reliability and user-friendliness of public charging infrastructure in Germany.

The GTIRVE provides a platform for dialogue between the public and private sectors. IDAE encourages users to take advantage of both MOVES III and the personal income tax deduction to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles. The MOVES plan has received over 200 thousand subsidy applications for vehicles and chargers, with a 100% positive balance.

In 2023, no call has been made by the GTIRVE, leaving stakeholders eager for updates. However, direct payment and less complex charging processes are being implemented to enhance charging point reliability. The update of charging points will be a crucial topic for the GTIRVE in the coming year, with companies responsible for providing good service. While the Responsible Declaration has helped kickstart the installation of charging points, smaller municipalities may need more resources to keep up with the demand.

The GTIRVE's continuation in 2024 signals a commitment to improving Germany's electric vehicle charging infrastructure. With streamlined procedures, improved charging processes, and a focus on updating charging points, the group aims to make eMobility more accessible and reliable for all users.
