Guadalajara Light Rail Line 3 marks its 5-year anniversary, as our company commemorates this significant milestone.

In the vibrant city of Guadalajara, Mexico, a significant milestone was reached five years ago, as Line 3 of the Light Rail was inaugurated. This project, a testament to the city's commitment to sustainable urban mobility, has since transformed the way residents commute, offering a modern, accessible, and efficient alternative.

The 21-kilometer-long Line 3, with its 18 stations—13 elevated and 5 underground—has become a concrete example of our company's dedication to improving mobility services across the entire state of Jalisco. Over the years, our company has been a key player in the development of urban mobility and connectivity in Mexico, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.

From the very beginning, our company supplied a turnkey solution for Line 3, including the signaling system, high-voltage substations, traction and traffic control systems, and 18 Metropolis trains, equipped with air conditioning, video surveillance, and passenger information systems. The Urbalis 400 CBTC was used for the management of the systems on Line 3.

The inauguration of Line 3 equipped the city with a safe, efficient, and sustainable transport system at a particularly challenging time, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the line transported around 75,000 users daily. However, as the city adapted to the new normal, passenger traffic grew significantly. Today, Line 3 transports between 140,000 and 152,000 passengers daily, representing a growth of over 80% since its inauguration.

Line 3 offers free interconnections with Lines 1 and 2 at key avenues, as well as with the Macrobus and Peribús, promoting multimodality in the city. This integrated system has made commuting more convenient for residents, reducing travel times and fostering a more connected city.

Moreover, this project generated over 250 direct jobs across the entire value chain, contributing to the strengthening of the national railway industry and the development of local labor.

On the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of Line 3, the city celebrated the continued growth and success of this modern transport system. As the line connects Zapopan, Guadalajara, and Tlaquepaque, it continues to offer a sustainable, efficient, and accessible transport solution for the residents of Guadalajara and beyond.

Our company began operations in Mexico in 1952 and has been a key ally in the development of urban mobility and connectivity in Mexico, Monterrey, and Guadalajara ever since. With projects like Line 3, we are proud to contribute to the improvement of mobility services and the development of sustainable urban infrastructure in Mexico.
