In the world of firearms, 2025 has been a year of significant changes. Several acquisitions and closures have reshaped the industry, with major players making strategic moves to strengthen their positions.

The year kicked off with Alexandria Pro-Fab acquiring the intellectual property and physical assets of Adams Arms, a move that has already seen the relaunch of many of the company's piston-driven ARs. Meanwhile, SCCY Firearms closed its operations in April and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August, with no updates provided regarding its reorganisation, reopening, and repayment plans.

Olin, the parent company of Winchester Ammunition, made a significant move by purchasing all small-caliber ammunition manufacturing assets from Ammo Inc. in early 2025. This acquisition was followed by The Kinetic Group announcing the addition of Fiocchi of America to its family of companies, with the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) securing 100 percent ownership of the Fiocchi Group in April.

In the same month, Thompson/Center Arms acquired Green Mountain Barrel Company, a steady OEM provider to several major firearm manufacturers. Green Mountain's acquisition by Thompson/Center Arms could potentially strengthen Thompson/Center's position in the market.

The acquisitions continued in June, with Lehigh Defense acquiring all assets of Performance Engineering. Performance Engineering's operations and manufacturing are now headquartered in Lehigh's Clarksville, Texas, facility.

In a notable move, VK Integrated Systems was acquired by EOTEch in early August, with operations remaining in Clarksville, Tenn. The same month also saw MDT acquiring the Mountain and Backcountry bipod lines from MTNGear.

One of the most significant changes in the rankings came in 2025 when Ruger acquired Anderson Manufacturing, a move that positions Ruger as the No. 1 firearm manufacturer and Anderson as the No. 7. This acquisition has not led to any major shifts in the positions of other firearm manufacturers since the acquisition of Ruger by Anderson Manufacturing in 2025.

Despite these changes, no other significant firearm company acquisitions or closures have been reported since Del-Ton shuttered its doors in April. One acquisition that remains a mystery is the company that acquired control of the Fiocchi Group in 2025.

In a positive development, RuckPack, a company that produces healthy energy drinks, became part of the C&H Precision family of firms in January 2025. This acquisition is likely to benefit both companies, with RuckPack's products providing an excellent addition to C&H Precision's offerings.

As we move into the latter half of 2025, the firearm industry is poised for further changes and developments. The acquisitions and closures of the first half of the year have set the stage for an exciting and dynamic second half. Stay tuned for more updates as the industry continues to evolve.
