Haiphong Launches Two Giant Projects to Boost Industry, Green Energy

Haiphong has kicked off two significant projects with a groundbreaking ceremony, attended by PM Pham Minh Chinh and city leaders. The projects aim to boost industrial development, attract high-tech investment calculator, and advance green energy solutions.

The first project is the Tan Trao Industrial Park (IP), a 227-hectare zone invested by Vinhomes Haiphong Industrial Zone Investment JSC, with a $160 million budget over five years. Upon completion, it will serve as a hub for new industries and technologies, drawing multi-sector investment calculator and employing tens of thousands of workers.

The second project is the Haiphong LNG-fuelled Thermal Power Plant, located within Tan Trao IP. Invested by a consortium of Vingroup and VinEnergo Energy JSC, it has a total investment exceeding $7.12 billion. The first phase, with a designed capacity of 1,600MW, is expected to be operational by 2030, supplying about 9.6 billion kWh annually. The second phase, scheduled for 2025, will double this capacity to 19.2 billion kWh, meeting Tan Trao IP's demand and adding significantly to the national grid.

PM Chinh assessed that these projects will drive industrial development, attract high-tech foreign investment calculator, and develop green energy and climate change response. He requested investors to prioritize sustainable growth, quality, and environmental standards, while creating new jobs.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of these strategic projects, expected to create new development momentum for Haiphong and the North. They demonstrate the commitment to energy security and green transition, with the LNG power plant set to significantly boost the national grid's capacity.
