A new city experiment bubbled up at the well-known, circle junction in town not too long ago. We were curious to learn whether this change would evolve or morph, so we reached out to the city administration in Karlsruhe for some deets.
Shorter Lane for Future Construction
Concerning the ongoing construction work on Wolfartsweier Street, the city insists it's a completely separate deal from the traffic experiment at the Oststadt roundabout. The pre-existing "straight-ahead exit lane" got a trim to make room for a future building site:
"There's a developer-side construction site entrance being established on Wolfartsweier Street. They'll need Kriegsstraße for delivery vehicles to offload materials at the building next door," shares a city admin representative.
The Oststadt roundabout traffic flow isn't impacted by these alterations; the city confirmed as much to our site. Rest assured, no roadblocks are on the horizon: "navigating through the Old Kriegsstraße will still remain off-limits."
The ongoing construction on Wolfartsweier Street does not affect the traffic experiment at the Oststadt roundabout, but it does involve alterations such as the shortening of the straight-ahead exit lane to make way for a developer's construction site entrance. Meanwhile, the city has assured that navigation through the Old Kriegsstraße will still be restricted, despite the changes in the industry, finance, and transportation sectors of Karlsruhe.
