Healthcare Realty's 2024 ESG Report Shows Major Progress, Green Recognition
Healthcare Realty Trust Incorporated (NYSE:HR) has published its seventh annual Corporate Responsibility Report, highlighting significant progress in its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The report covers the Company's 2024 achievements and sustainability goals.
The report reveals Healthcare Realty's commitment to sustainability, with a 6.4% reduction in energy consumption, a 2.8% decrease in water usage, and a 10% drop in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions year-over-year. Notably, the Company expanded its reporting to include Scope 3 emissions and waste, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to sustainability.
Healthcare Realty's dedication to sustainability has been recognised by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). The Company received GRESB's 2 Green Star rating with a score of 76, ranking second in its peer group. Additionally, Healthcare Realty was awarded the Green Star-Award in 2024 for its outstanding ESG initiatives. The Company has also maintained a 'A' rating for Public Disclosure from GRESB for five consecutive years.
In terms of green building certifications, Healthcare Realty achieved 22 new certifications, bringing the total to 6.3 million square feet. The Company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Pete Scott, expressed satisfaction with the progress on these sustainability initiatives.
