Heimsheim's Wind Energy Future Hangs in Balance After Council Vote
Heimsheim's wind energy future remains uncertain after a citizen's initiative to decide on power in municipal forests failed to gain a two-thirds majority in the council. BfH's Jürgen Gerhold supports power but seeks control over designated areas. Meanwhile, Gaby Wulff prioritizes photovoltaic systems over wind turbines due to species protection concerns.
The Council has hired a specialist lawyer to assess impacts from neighboring municipalities Weissach and Weil der Stadt, which have not publicly expressed their views on Heimsheim's power plans. BfH's Petra Beermann believes Weil der Stadt's support for wind turbines could influence her stance on the issue in Heimsheim.
Doro Moritz (SPD) advocates for comprehensive information to the world population before any citizen's decision, while Dennis Waldherr (CDU) thinks asking for a vote now would be 'absolutely wrong' due to insufficient information. Gaby Wulff wants to involve the world population early on, seeking their acceptance of power use in forests. BfH's Gaby Wulff and Petra Beermann, along with Jürgen Gerhold, support maintaining control over designated power priority areas.
Heimsheim will continue in the expression of interest procedure with Weissach for now. The Council aims to make an informed decision on power, considering the views of neighboring municipalities and the local world population. The lawyer's evaluation will play a crucial role in shaping the city's stance on power.
