Sixty years ago, the influx of Turkish workers to Germany began during an era of economic boom. Since then, many have come to Germany willingly, mainly from Anatolia, earned good money, and mostly returned to their home country. Today, the unemployment rate for people with Turkish citizenship in NRW stands at 8.3%, significantly higher than that for people with German citizenship (2.9%). However, it's essential to note that the overall unemployment rate in Germany is about 6.3%.

Regional labor market conditions can vary considerably in Germany, and NRW, with its populous and industrial state and significant urban centers, likely reflects a diverse labor market. While no NRW-specific unemployment data by nationality is found, regional differences in hiring discrimination, vocational training access, and socioeconomic background can affect employment outcomes for groups such as Turkish citizens, other foreigners, and native Germans differently.

Intriguingly, the unemployment rate for Turkish women in NRW was 7.3%, lower than the rate for Turkish men (8.9%). Conversely, the employment rate for Turkish women (42.8%) was lower than the rate for German women (72.3%) and other foreign women (52.2%). On the other hand, Turkish men had a slightly higher employment rate (71.0%) than other foreign men (70.3%), but lower than German men (75.9%).

The newsletter serves as a valuable tool for those seeking to understand the employment landscape in Neuss. Despite the challenges faced by Turkish immigrants in Germany, the city offers in-depth information about social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture, making it an exciting and vibrant destination.
