Honda Cars India Exports 200,000 Vehicles, Showcasing India's Global Automotive Prowess

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reached a significant milestone, exporting 200,000 vehicles to global markets. This achievement underscores the growing prowess of India's automotive manufacturing sector and its ability to meet international quality standards.

HCIL's export journey began modestly, with initial shipments primarily to neighbouring regions. By 2021, the company had sent its first 50,000 units to SAARC, South Africa, and SADC nations. The company's commitment to exports has been unwavering, with this business strategy integral to its revenue growth.

The company's export portfolio has since expanded to span 33 countries, with Japan being the largest market at 30%. Southeast Asia has emerged as the current main target for most Honda exports from India. The Honda City and Honda Elevate models have been the primary contributors to this success, accounting for 78% of total export volume.

HCIL achieved the final 100,000 unit milestone in just two years, driven by international demand for the mid-size SUV Honda Elevate. Over the next 2.5 years, another 50,000 units were exported to Left Hand Drive markets, with the Honda City being the primary export model.

Reaching 200,000 export units is a testament to the global recognition of India-made cars and the dedication of HCIL's teams, as noted by Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at HCIL. This milestone also reflects the maturation of India's automotive manufacturing sector and its capacity to meet global quality standards.
