Honda Ridgeline receives off-road makeover with TrailSport edition in 2024

The much-anticipated 2024 Honda Ridgeline is set to make its debut this winter, boasting enhanced off-road capabilities, mechanical upgrades, cosmetic updates, and technological improvements that make it a formidable contender in the off-road truck market.

Off-road Capabilities

Equipped with specially engineered 18-inch wheels and 31-inch all-terrain tires optimized for off-road traction and durability, the Ridgeline TrailSport is ready to conquer rugged terrains. The off-road tuned suspension improves handling and comfort on rough terrain, while heavy-duty skid plates protect critical underbody components like the oil pan, power takeoff, transmission, and fuel tank, enhancing durability when off-roading.

Bright orange heavy-duty front recovery points improve vehicle recovery options when stuck in difficult terrain, and a shorter front overhang provides an improved approach angle for better obstacle clearance.

Mechanical Changes

The Ridgeline TrailSport retains a 280-horsepower V6 engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, providing sufficient power and torque for varied conditions. A brake actuated limited slip differential ensures improved traction, and off-road tuned suspension and heavy-duty skid plates add robustness.

Cosmetic Updates

The Ridgeline TrailSport sports a beefier, more rugged exterior styling with an aluminum front scuff plate protecting the front fascia. The redesigned rear features angled exhaust tips tucked to the side, enhancing both aesthetics and practicality. TrailSport badging and aesthetic touches emphasize its off-road focus.

Technological Improvements

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport comes equipped with the TrailWatch system, featuring four camera views (front, rear, side, and 360-degree), including tire path and vehicle body guidelines to help drivers navigate obstacles. The infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist.

Enhanced interior convenience features like heated seats, moonroof, keyless entry, and remote engine start are also included. The new center console features a larger armrest and a bin that can hold a full-size tablet. A 9.0-inch center screen is now standard, and the infotainment system comes with a faster processor.

In addition, the new Ridgeline models feature a 7.0-inch digital display in the dash, with the mechanical speedometer located on the right side. The Ridgeline TrailSport will feature 18-inch wheels with General Grabber all-terrain tires, and the door pillars and mirrors are painted black for a sleeker look. Softer sway bars have been added to the suspension for improved articulation.

While Honda has not announced the pricing for the 2024 Ridgeline, the 2023 model starts from $38,800. The new center console and technological improvements are common across all 2024 Honda Ridgeline models, similar to the one in the 2023 Pilot. The Ridgeline TrailSport is set to offer a compelling blend of ruggedness, functionality, and modern conveniences, making it an attractive choice for off-road enthusiasts.
