IAF's Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Back Against Terrorism

The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorates Air Force Day on October 8, 2025, with Operation Sindoor at its core. This mission, a testament to the IAF's operational excellence, targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoJK), and sent a strong message against cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor, launched in response to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam Valley in May 2025, marked a historic milestone. The IAF, under the command of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, employed the S-400 missile system to achieve the 'longest kill' of over 300 kilometers, dismantling nine terror camps and crippling nearly 20% of Pakistan's operational air capability by destroying 11 air bases.

The operation showcased indigenous platforms like the Tejas Mk-1A and Mk-2 fighters, the AMCA program, BrahMos missiles, and the Akash air defense system, demonstrating India's commitment to self-reliance in defense (Atmanirbhar Bharat). Key personnel, including Commandant Prabhakar Singh of the 140th Battalion, BSF, Major Ritesh Kumar of the Rajputana Rifles, and Havildar Mohit Gera, were honored for their courage during the operation.

Operation Sindoor, a highlight of Air Force Day 2025, underscored the IAF's modernity, technological prowess, and operational excellence. It served as a clear message to the region that India will decisively respond to cross-border terrorism and hold aggressors accountable.
