After the tragic passing of Alberto Balocco, his sister Alessandra stepped up to lead the family's historic confectionery company, Balocco SpA, based in Fossano, Italy. Alessandra, who had been involved with the company since the 1990s, took over as President and CEO in 2022.
Alberto's death, which occurred in 2021 when he was struck by lightning on the road to Assetta, in Val Chisone, left a deep impact on the family and the company. His brother and sister were informed of his passing while they were abroad on vacation.
Despite the grief, Alessandra and the family found solace in remembering Alberto's optimistic and full-of-life spirit. His daughter, Diletta, entered the company following his death to learn how to carry on his legacy. Diletta is currently handling the commercial sector of the company.
Under Alessandra's leadership, the company has continued to thrive. In 2023, it achieved a turnover of €254 million and exported to at least 67 countries. Forbes celebrated Alberto as a manager in another league, and his family believes that his entrepreneurial spirit lives on in the challenges he left behind.
The family chose to remember Alberto with a bright, cheerful atmosphere rather than a somber one. A mass will be celebrated in his memory next Friday. The factory where many products still bear Alberto's name will not hold a commemoration.
