On January 13, Akio Toyoda, the chairman of Toyota, delivered a thought-provoking speech at the general meeting of the NPS Management Institute. The event, attended by 200 corporate managers and executives, was part of a research association made up of over 45 companies that work to optimize manufacturing based on the Toyota Production System (TPS).

The lecture, themed "What TPS Means to Me - The Fight to Restore Authority to the Genba," was 90 minutes long and included a Q&A session. Toyota's leader reflected on his life and career, focusing on TPS as a management philosophy rather than just a manufacturing practice.

Throughout the lecture, Akio Toyoda emphasized the importance of the Toyota Production System, a methodology that eliminates waste, promotes continuous improvement (kaizen), and ensures just-in-time delivery. TPS is a core part of Toyota's operational philosophy, focusing on enhancing efficiency and quality.

During the Q&A session, questions were asked about leadership, change, and the future of Toyota. Some of the questions included "What do you change and not change as a business leader?", "What is the mindset of a leader?", "What message do you have for future generations?", "What is the future of carmaking at Toyota?", and "A message for Japan's manufacturing industry."

Akio Toyoda, often referred to as the "Toyota prince," has been open about his personal struggles, such as the question, "Who am I?" He has found emotional support in his relationship with TPS, which he sees as a guiding force in his life and career.
