In the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China, six eastern coastal hubs have found themselves particularly exposed to the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump's administration. According to the IndexBox Market Intelligence Platform, these hubs - Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, and Fujian - collectively accounted for nearly 80% of the total value of China's exports to the US for the first seven months of the year.

The US-China Economic Talks in Madrid, which addressed trade and security issues, did not provide specific details about the TikTok deal or the outcomes of these discussions. Despite the high tariffs, US exports of Coal and LNG to China have surged, indicating a shift in the trade dynamics between the two nations.

However, the trade effects are highly uneven across more than 30 provincial-level regions in China. While China's exports to the United States fell 15.5% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2025, some Chinese provinces have seen their exports to the US surge by as much as 265%.

CIB Research reports that Chinese provinces are experiencing sharply divergent impacts on their exports to the United States. The economic powerhouses of Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Shanghai are noted as leading economic drivers domestically, but no exact export values by province to the USA were provided.

In contrast, there are no specific publicly available figures or details regarding the sales value of Hubei province to the USA for the first seven months of 2025 nor a comparison to other Chinese provinces for that period. General data shows that China's export growth to the USA slowed sharply, with export falls of about 33%, while regions such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Shanghai are noted as leading economic drivers domestically, but no exact export values by province to the USA were provided.

Elsewhere, Japan's trade deficit narrowly declined in October, potentially indicating a shift in the global trade landscape. Meanwhile, Artificial Corundum exports from China have surged twofold, recovering from the previous year's slump.

These developments underscore the complex and dynamic nature of the global trade landscape, with each region adapting differently to the challenges and opportunities presented by evolving trade policies and market conditions.
