New 1,210-Metre Bridge Inaugurated as Part of Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a new 1,210-metre bridge as part of Phase 4 of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project. The bridge, with a capacity of 4,800 vehicles per hour, is expected to benefit over 1 million residents upon full completion.

The Al Shindagha Corridor, an 11-phase project started in 2016, spans a total of 13 kilometers and serves multiple areas including Deira, Bur Dubai, and Dubai Islands. H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, stated that the project reflects the leadership's vision to support urban growth and mobility in Dubai.

The new bridge is one of five bridges that have been completed in early 2025, with the remaining two scheduled to open in Q2 2025. One of these bridges is a 780m bridge connecting Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street, while the other is a 985m bridge connecting Jumeirah Street to Falcon Intersection.

The bridge is part of the ongoing Phase 4 of the project, which spans 4.8 km and includes 5 bridges totaling 3.1 km, road upgrades, and intersection enhancements. The combined capacity of all bridges in Phase 4 is 19,400 vehicles per hour.

The project, upon completion, is projected to reduce travel time from the current 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. Over 20 years, the project is expected to generate AED 45 billion in economic value.

Intersection enhancements are included on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street. A 605m bridge is improving access from Al Mina Street to Sheikh Rashid Road, while a 1,335m bridge has opened in December 2024, easing flow from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Infinity Bridge.

The road upgrades and intersection enhancements extend from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Falcon Intersection. The entire corridor includes 15 intersections and 18 km of bridges and tunnels aimed at significantly increasing traffic capacity from 6,400 to 24,000 vehicles per hour.

The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is a significant step towards improving mobility and urban growth in Dubai. With the completion of Phase 4 and the upcoming opening of the remaining bridges, the project is on track to deliver on its promise of efficient and seamless transportation for Dubai's residents and visitors.
