India and Bhutan are set to construct their first cross-border railway lines, connecting Kokrajhar in India to Gelephu in Bhutan and Samtse in Bhutan to Banarhat in India. The ambitious project, estimated at $454 million, aims to boost economic ties and facilitate goods movement between the two nations.

The 69-kilometer railway from Kokrajhar to Gelephu is projected to cost 34.56 billion rupees ($390 million). The Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway zone will oversee the electrification and implementation of these eco-friendly designs.
