INFINITI Unveils QX65 Monograph: A Bold Step into the Future

At the Monterey Car Week, luxury automaker INFINITI revealed its latest concept SUV, the QX65 Monograph. This new vehicle carries design elements that hark back to the brand's past, particularly the original FX, while also signifying a decisive move into its next era.

The QX65 Monograph's design is a testament to INFINITI's unconventional spirit, as demonstrated by the original FX two decades earlier. Its tail lights are framed by clean bodywork, emphasizing sculptural surfacing, and its silhouette features a plunging roofline and long proportions.

The exterior of the QX65 Monograph boasts a multi-layer satin finish called Twilight, which changes color depending on the light. Gloss black roof rails, wheels, and bronze trim around the arching roofline and grille add a touch of sophistication.

The grille of the QX65 Monograph is inspired by bamboo forests, with a more turbulent pattern meant to suggest storm-whipped forests. The rear of the vehicle features a wide LED array with vertical fins inspired by jet aircraft, creating a striking and dynamic appearance.

The QX65 Monograph's designers pushed the wheels to the corners and flared the fenders, creating a wide stance. It rides on 22-inch wheels with twisted, interlaced spokes. Subtle bronze accents and finely crafted trim pieces are present throughout the vehicle, adding to its luxurious appeal.

Moreover, the QX65 Monograph's presence at Monterey confirms that INFINITI still values bold, attention-grabbing design as a core part of its identity. Tiago Castro, head of INFINITI Americas, stated that the QX65 Monograph marks a signal that INFINITI is moving decisively into its next era.

INFINITI executives consider the QX65 Monograph more than an abstract styling exercise. Alfonso Albaisa, INFINITI's global design chief, stated that the QX65 Monograph was designed to stand apart from the "cluttered midsize luxury space" and carry a sense of speed and elegance.

The QX65 Monograph's designers have also incorporated practical features, such as extended piano-key lighting that can perform a brief illumination "show" for onlookers. This concept SUV is intended to expand the INFINITI lineup and push the design language forward.

While the specific design chief who spoke about the QX65 Monograph is not identified in the available results, it is clear that this vehicle represents a significant step for INFINITI. Whether it serves as a design statement or reaches production unchanged, the QX65 Monograph is undoubtedly a vehicle that commands attention.
