Infinity Expands QX80 Lineup with Three Special Edition Models Aiming to Boost Sales Volume in Dealerships

The luxury car manufacturer Infiniti is set to expand its QX80 lineup with two exciting new variants, the Track Spec and Terrain Spec, which will be showcased at the SEMA show in November and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month.

The Infiniti QX80 Track Spec

The QX80 Track Spec is a high-performance variant based on the 2025 QX80, sharing many upgrades with the Nissan Armada NISMO. Key expected specifications include:

  • Engine: An enhanced 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, boosted to around 460 horsepower through reprogramming and revised valve clearances (compared to the standard QX80's 450 hp).
  • Performance Upgrades: Retuned steering and air suspension derived from Nissan’s NISMO performance model for better handling and sportier dynamics.
  • Design Features: Racier bodywork including a small chin spoiler, distinguishing it visually from the standard QX80.
  • Platform: Likely based on the current QX80, which has a wheelbase of 121.1 inches, an overall length of 211.2 inches, and a maximum width of 83.3 inches excluding mirrors.

Beefier tires and smaller wheel diameters are expected for both the Track Spec and Terrain Spec versions of the Infiniti QX80. The Track Spec will also have improved brakes and reworked suspension parts. As of August 2025, Infiniti has showcased the QX80 Track Spec as a "design exercise," signaling it was unveiled recently but not yet confirmed for production. It is expected to be displayed alongside other new QX80 variants soon, with production dependent on customer interest. No official production or sales launch date has been announced yet.

The Infiniti QX80 Terrain Spec

The Terrain Spec is aimed at off-road enthusiasts, with increased ground clearance, roof storage solutions, protection plates, rugged body protection elements, a locking differential, and improved off-road capabilities. This third variant is described as being like "GT-R and a QX80 had a baby."

Infiniti could manufacture 500 or 1000 units of the limited editions, depending on customer interest. The exact specifications for the Terrain Spec are yet to be announced, but it is expected to be unveiled at the SEMA show in November.

The QX80's special editions are mainly intended to increase showroom traffic for the brand, something that has been requested by dealers for a while. The second limited edition of the QX80 will be called the Terrain Spec.

Both the QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec will be unveiled in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California later this month. The production variant of these special editions is expected within the next 12 months.

Infiniti's FX series of crossovers had a significant presence in the tuner scene in the mid to late 2000s, and it seems the brand is aiming to recapture that magic with the new QX80 special editions. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting new models.

  1. The Infiniti QX80 Track Spec, a performance variant, boasts anticipatory improvements such as a more powerful engine, performance upgrades, and distinctive design elements, while expected components include beefier tires and improved brakes.
  2. Despite being showcased as a "design exercise," the Terrain Spec, another QX80 variant inspired by off-road enthusiasts, is expected to feature increased ground clearance, protection elements, and a locking differential, with production possibly influenced by customer interest.
  3. The soon-to-be-released QX80 special editions, the Track Spec and Terrain Spec, are intended to revitalize Infiniti's presence in the automotive industry, mirroring the brand's past success in the tuner scene with its FX series.
