During the busy Ferragosto week, a significant operation named "Travel Safe" was carried out by Italian railway police to ensure the safety and security of travellers. The operation, which involved 83 operators, was supported by various units such as the Prevention Crime unit, the canine units of the Turin Questura, and anti-pickpocketing services in plain clothes.

The operation resulted in several noteworthy findings. Drugs were recovered from an individual during the operation, and it was discovered that the culprit was an Italian citizen in transit. The exact focus of the railway police during this operation was not disclosed.

In addition to the drug seizure, 2,083 foreigners were identified during the week-long operation. However, no new information about the number of people checked or the stations targeted was provided.

The railway police also focused their efforts on specific stations, particularly Mondovì and Fossano, and on "sea trains." The names of the eight suspects arrested during these special police railway control services in Piedmont and Aosta Valley are not publicly available.

The operation also included 129 escorted trains as part of the railway control services, and 310 patrols were deployed in FS stations, with another 50 on board trains. Despite the extensive efforts, only 6 administrative fines were issued, including 3 for railway safety violations.

Over 4,000 people were checked in Piedmont and Aosta Valley during the operation, demonstrating the railway police's commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for travellers during the busy Ferragosto week.
