Intel supplier AT&S experiences early departure of its Chief Financial Officer, Preining.
In an unexpected turn of events, Petra Preining, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Austrian printed circuit board manufacturer AT&S, has announced her decision to step down from her position at the end of August. Preining, who joined the company in October 2022, has been at the helm of the finance department since then.
The supervisory board, led by Chairman Andy Mattes, has expressed their regret at Preining's decision and thanked her for her work and the successes she brought to AT&S. Mattes wished Preining all the best for her future career.
The news of Preining's departure comes at a time when AT&S is grappling with financial challenges. The supplier to tech giants like Intel and Apple reported a deeper loss in the first quarter of 2025/26, despite a jump in sales. Price pressure and startup costs for new plants in Malaysia and Austria, although not specified in detail, were cited as reasons for the loss.
Preining's contract with AT&S was originally for five years, but it seems her tenure was cut short. Prior to joining AT&S, Preining was with Semperit.
The duties of the CFO position will be temporarily taken over by the leading managers of the finance, controlling, and legal departments. The supervisory board has commissioned an international recruitment firm to find a successor for the CFO position.
It's worth noting that before Preining's arrival, Andreas Gerstenmayer had been handling the CFO duties at AT&S. Simone Faath, the previous CFO of AT&S, stepped down "for personal reasons" in October 2021.
As of the latest information, Preining remains the CFO of AT&S, having successfully completed the refinancing. However, no exact departure date or successor has been named yet.
