Investment of $4M granted for the development of Ligetron, a top-tier zkVM, by Ligero.

Ligetron, a groundbreaking zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) platform, has recently launched its memory-efficient ZK Virtual Machine (zkVM) platform. The platform, which can handle 1,000 transactions per second on a single NVIDIA L40S GPU with under 2 GB CPU RAM, has the potential to revolutionize the fields of decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, machine learning, and real-world asset tokenization.

The launch of Ligetron paves the way for mobile-based zero-knowledge proof-powered applications, making complex ZKP operations accessible on resource-constrained devices like mobile browsers. Muthu Venkitasubramaniam, co-founder, CEO, and CTO of Ligero, believes that scalable privacy will be crucial for next-generation DeFi, gaming, ML applications, and real-world asset tokenization.

In DeFi, Ligetron can be used to implement privacy-preserving protocols and decentralized applications that require ZKP to verify transactions or credentials without revealing sensitive data. Its memory efficiency allows these complex proofs to be executed quickly and on devices with limited resources, enhancing usability and scalability for DeFi apps.

For gaming, Ligetron enables ZKP to verify game state and player actions in a trustless manner without revealing secret strategies or data. This can foster fair play and trust in decentralized multiplayer games or esports platforms by proving events or outcomes without compromising privacy.

In machine learning, Ligetron's zkVM capabilities can be applied to prove computations and model predictions correctly without exposing the underlying data or model parameters. This is especially valuable for privacy-sensitive ML scenarios, such as federated learning or secure model serving, where zero knowledge could ensure data confidentiality while proving integrity of computations.

Regarding real-world asset tokenization, Ligetron can provide ZKP for identity, ownership, and transaction credentials while maintaining user privacy. For example, it supports digital credentials like mobile driver's licenses and EU IDs that can be proved in zero knowledge directly from a phone or browser. This facilitates fully private yet verifiable proofs of ownership or rights over tokenized assets in compliance with regulations.

The seed round for Ligetron was co-led by Galaxy Ventures and 1kx, with participation from Franklin Templeton, Nascent, Anagram, Robot Ventures, and Digital Currency Group. The fresh capital will be used to expand Ligero's engineering and business development teams.

Wei Dai, a research partner at 1kx, has joined Ligero's board of directors as part of the deal, bringing valuable expertise to the company. Ligetron is the first and only ZKVM that delivers consistent and scalable performance, making it a powerful foundational layer for next-generation zero-knowledge apps that require both privacy and performance.
