Investment opportunity announced: alterations on Long Street and Laufer Straße
In the heart of the city, significant changes are on the horizon for Löber Street and its neighboring Lony Street. The local authorities have announced new regulations aimed at creating a safer and more livable environment for cyclists and pedestrians, breaking news that has caught the attention of many.
Until now, both Lony Street and Löber Street have allowed general motor vehicle traffic. However, the upcoming changes will designate these streets as bike streets, granting cyclists the right of way and restricting unnecessary motor vehicle entry to residents and those visiting or conducting business.
The diversion of through traffic for general motor vehicles will be directed towards Hermannstraße and Gotenstraße, while through traffic will not be redirected to Löber Street due to its new purpose as a bike street. This adjustment also aims to achieve sustainable improvement of the situation in the neighborhood, reducing noise, emissions, and enhancing the overall living quality.
Residents can expect a noticeable reduction in through traffic as a result of these changes. One-way Löber Street is being prepared for bike traffic in the opposite direction between Bismarck Street and Goethe Street, which should spare cyclists the need to switch sides on the heavily-traveled Bismarck Street when they wish to travel along the Wieseck.
The city police will strengthen controls to ensure the new regulations are followed, and the new regulation for Löber Street is still in preparation, with signage pending. This measure is being implemented in the interest of all traffic participants, moving us closer to the goal of making bike streets safe and livable spaces for cyclists and pedestrians.
While Löber Street undergoes these changes, the existing regulations on Lony Street will remain unaltered. Through traffic will be redirected to main streets such as Ludwig Street, Berlin Square, or Südanlage. The new regulations on Löber Street aim to avoid unnecessary conflicts with cars using the streets as a shortcut, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for all who use these streets.
