In a lively press conference at the Central Communications Center, Almaty's mayor, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, shared updates on job creation and industrial projects, as reported by Almaty.tv. By December 1, an impressive 77,600 new jobs had been inserted into Almaty, including 36,900 permanent ones, with entrepreneurs contributing 29,800 of those positions.

Addressing the audience, Sagintayev explained that the city's anti-crisis measures were designed to safeguard citizens' jobs and incomes, support small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), and spur new production orders.

Ranging across various state programs, 47,800 jobs have seen the light, including 18,648 through the "Eńbek" program, 21,689 from the "Employment Roadmap-2020", 3,540 under the "Business Roadmap-2025", 1,419 via the "Simple and Affordable Economy" program, 824 related to regional development, 455 tied to the "Nurly Zher" initiative, 869 tied to industrial and innovative development, 70 to education and science development, and a smattering to several other projects.

The "Business Roadmap-2025" has supported 556 projects worth a whopping 102 billion tenge, while the "Simple and Affordable Economy" program has approved 66 projects totaling 121.2 billion tenge, generating 1,400 permanent jobs.

As for the "Employment Roadmap", 228 projects are underway this year, creating 21,700 jobs. Through the Employment Center, approximately 10,700 unemployed individuals have found work.

In another fascinating development, 53 projects worth a staggering 200 billion tenge are being hatched in the Almaty Industrial Zone, creating 6,500 jobs. Thus far, 13 projects worth 63.5 billion tenge have been accomplished, resulting in 2,348 positions. By year's end, six additional projects worth 17.3 billion tenge are slated to go live, providing 453 jobs.

Apart from the Almaty scene, efforts are afoot at the SEZ "PIT" to nurture high-tech industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and equipment production, as well as projects in fields like information and communication technologies, education, medicine, and instrument-making. Overall, these undertakings are expected to attract 400 billion tenge in investments and spark the creation of 6,000 new jobs.

Beyond the Almaty context, regional industrial growth plans include the expansion of manufacturing sectors such as household appliances production in the Almaty Region, with a factory primed to churn out 750,000 units annually. Furthermore, Almaty International Airport undergoes modernization and expansion by TAV Airports, involving $260 million invested since 2020 and plans for further investment towards 2030, paving the way for logistics and regional connectivity that indirectly boosts industrial activity and employment opportunities.
