Karlsruhe: Urban trains on AVG line to face nighttime disruptions starting 2nd June; alternative transport arrangements in place
Beginning on June 1st and concluding on June 6th, 2023, extensive rail work necessitates alternative transportation options for passengers traveling between Karlsruhe, Rastatt, Baden-Baden, and Forbach.
During this period, the train services between these cities will either be partially or fully suspended, as the Rheintalbahn line undergoes essential expansion and renovation. The affected regional train lines include the S71 and S8, with the late connection from Karlsruhe to Baden-Baden and the evening S8 connections between Hilpertsau and Forbach being canceled during the specified dates.
To accommodate passengers, the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) will operate bus replacement services along the affected route, connecting Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof, Rastatt, and Baden-Baden. These buses will stop at all intermediate stations, allowing passengers to travel between cities despite the disrupted train services.
While some regional train lines, such as the RE 6 between Karlsruhe and Neustadt, continue to operate on unaffected stretches, passengers traveling within the Karlsruhe–Baden-Baden corridor should expect to transfer to buses during the disturbance period.
Passengers are advised to plan extra travel time and check the latest information before setting off. For more details, visit the AVG website or contact their customer service.
[Enrichment Data Integration] – The construction work aims to improve and modernize the railway infrastructure in the region, promising better travel experiences for the future. During this period, the disruptions may cause temporary inconvenience, but the benefits of the upgrade will be worth the adjustments.
