Kazakhstan Plans to Integrate 25 New Careers in the Transport and Freight Industry
In a significant move, Kazakhstan has doubled its funding for college education, aiming to develop new specialties within the transport and logistics sector. This announcement was made at a government meeting focused on the Action Plan for the Year of Working Professions, held on January 8, as reported by the Prime Minister's press service.
The rapid development of the transport and logistics sector in Kazakhstan has led to the introduction of 25 new professions. These include smart road design engineers, BIM-skilled foremen, construction robot operators, digital designers, digital logistics map designers, and operators for large transport and logistics hubs. Additionally, Kazakhstan plans to introduce the profession of external pilots for remotely piloted aircraft systems in civil aviation.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized the importance of skilled workers as the economy's main productive force. He also highlighted the need for market-demanded specialists, particularly in the transport and logistics sector, which employs 772,000 out of a total workforce of 9.7 million. The majority of employment in this sector is in rail, road transport, logistics, and warehousing.
To ensure the quality of education and training for these new professions, a competence center is planned to be created in Astana, integrating educational programs that meet international standards. The new specialties will be introduced in collaboration with educational institutions, with a focus on annual new specialties due to their continuous appearance.
However, specific details about the 23 newly introduced occupations in the transport and logistics sector in Kazakhstan were not provided in the meeting's report. Nonetheless, the context suggests that these new specialties are likely related to the transport and logistics sector, but this was not explicitly stated.
This investment in education and the development of new professions underscores Kazakhstan's commitment to fostering a skilled workforce and driving the growth of its transport and logistics sector.
