Kia's Carens and Carens EV models accumulate over 21,000 reservations since their debut
The latest facelift of the Kia Carens Clavis has introduced several notable changes, offering a modernised look and upgraded tech offerings, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) variant.
Key updates after the facelift include:
- Exterior redesign: The Carens Clavis features a restyled front and rear fascia with a redesigned grille, new slim LED light bar connecting angular LED DRLs, sharp 3-pod LED headlamps with triangular enclosures, rugged bumpers with black cladding and silver accents, and integrated rectangular pixel-style LED fog lamps.
- Interior enhancements: The cabin sports a modern, clean dashboard dominated by dual digital screens and a new Kia steering wheel design with a dual-tone finish. The interior theme is a blue-beige color, with soft-touch leatherette on door pads, armrests, and steering wheel but no soft-touch on the dashboard top, which is plastic and fabric.
- Electric variant-specific upgrades (Carens Clavis EV):
- A floating center console replaces the traditional gear lever, freeing up space and adding storage with a sliding cover.
- Paddle shifters are repurposed for controlling regenerative braking levels.
- Digital cluster with EV-specific graphics showing battery level, range estimate, and electric driving info.
- New frunk (25-litre front trunk) for extra storage.
- Aerodynamic enhancements such as active air flaps and aero wheels.
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allowing the car to power external devices from its battery.
- Different alloy wheel options: mid-spec HTX variant gets 16-inch all-black alloys with aero covers; Extended Range HTX gets larger 17-inch dual-tone alloys.
The facelifted Kia Carens Clavis retains its position as a practical 7-seater MPV, with the EV version offering efficiency and convenience features not found in the ICE models.
Pricing for the Carens Clavis EV ranges from approximately ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and it has been well-received in the Indian market with strong bookings since its launch.
The Carens Clavis EV model is powered by a single electric motor producing 169 bhp and 255 Nm of peak torque, with a battery capacity of 51.4 kWh, offering a driving range of 490 km (MIDC). It comes with six airbags, ESC, rear occupant alert, and a total of 18 advanced safety features.
The rear of the new Kia Carens Clavis has new Starmap LED connected taillights and revised bumpers. The cabin features a new dashboard with dual digital screens, new blue and beige upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, ambient lighting, a Bose sound system, 360-degree camera, electric parking brake, dual dashcam, and connected car tech.
Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, expressed satisfaction with the strong booking numbers for the Kia Carens Clavis and Clavis EV models. The Kia Carens Clavis model, in its ICE versions, is offered with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, paired with manual and automatic transmission choices.
The prices for the ICE range of the Kia Carens Clavis start from ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Carens Clavis model is available in six and seven-seater configurations. The Kia Carens Clavis has been well-received by Indian consumers, affirming its strong position in the segment.
