KTM's new 160 Duke motorcycle now available for Rs 1.84 lakh, boasting greater power compared to Yamaha's MT-15 model.

The KTM 160 Duke, the latest offering from the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 1,84,998 (ex-showroom). This bike, built on a split-trellis frame, is the most powerful bike in the 160cc category, delivering 19 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.

The KTM 160 Duke is powered by a 164.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It weighs 147 kg (kerb) and has a 10.1-liter fuel tank. The bike boasts an 815mm seat height and a ground clearance of 174mm, making it a comfortable ride for most riders.

The bike's suspension includes WP Apex front forks and a monoshock rear suspension, ensuring a smooth ride on various road conditions. The 160 Duke also features full LED lighting, a 5-inch LCD display, and smartphone connectivity. It offers music control, call/SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation, making it a tech-savvy choice for modern riders.

The KTM 160 Duke is available in three colours - Silver Matte, Orange, and Blue. Its headlamp design is inspired by the bigger 390 Duke, giving it a sporty and aggressive look. The bike replaces the Duke 125 as KTM's new entry-level streetfighter.

In comparison with the Yamaha MT-15, the KTM 160 Duke has a larger displacement engine with slightly higher power and torque. KTM uses premium WP suspension and a trellis frame for better sporty handling, while Yamaha offers a Deltabox frame with telescopic forks. The Duke is heavier by about 9 kg but compensates with advanced chassis and suspension components.

The KTM 160 Duke is priced higher, reflecting its premium engineering and feature set. It offers a more powerful engine, advanced suspension, and premium features compared to the Yamaha MT-15, targeting riders seeking sportier performance and a more aggressive design. On the other hand, the MT-15 focuses on a lighter, slightly more affordable package with proven reliability.

In conclusion, the KTM 160 Duke is a powerful, feature-rich, and stylish entry-level streetfighter, offering a unique blend of performance and technology for Indian riders.
