Large-scale corporation restructures plant in historic Frankish region, resulting in significant job losses

Large-scale corporation alters operations at its Frankish manufacturing plant, leading to significant job losses.

Bosch Rexroth, a leading company in drive and control technology, has announced a revised job cut plan for its plant in Augsfeld, a municipal district of Haßfurt. Following negotiations with employee representatives, the number of job cuts has been reduced significantly.

Initially, the company had planned to cut around 700 positions at the Augsfeld site. However, after the successful negotiations, the updated plan now anticipates around 500 positions to be affected. This reduction is a positive development for the employees and the community.

The revised plan, known as the "future concept" for the Lower Franconian site, aims to safeguard the core competencies and jobs at the Augsfeld site while adapting to market and business challenges. Key aspects of this concept include:

  1. Avoidance of further immediate layoffs: Beyond the 500 cuts, additional job losses are avoided in the short term.
  2. Focus on future viability: The concept emphasizes restructuring and investments to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the site.
  3. Job preservation measures: Including retraining and internal redeployment where possible.
  4. Collaboration with employee representatives: To jointly manage the transition and implement the agreed steps.

The restructuring will be implemented in a socially responsible manner, with measures such as severance agreements with severance payments, early retirement offers, and part-time retirement regulations. The remaining job cuts in production and administrative areas will be carried out with due consideration for the affected employees.

The decision to restructure the Augsfeld plant was made due to a significant deterioration in the order situation since the end of 2023, making the plant underutilized. To improve its competitiveness, Bosch Rexroth will consolidate production in this area. The site's competitiveness will be further enhanced through performance- and flexibility-enhancing measures, such as adapted shift models.

The negotiations for the realignment of the Augsfeld plant have now been completed. The company's central administration is located in Lohr am Main, while its headquarters are in Stuttgart. The historic Roti packaging printing GmbH from Nuremberg has recently dissolved its business.

Bosch Rexroth AG, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, has existed since 2001. The plant in Augsfeld has been manufacturing components for mobile controls. The employees at the Augsfeld site were informed about the negotiation results on Tuesday, 29th July 2025. By the end of 2027, only around 80 jobs will be cut at Bosch Rexroth in Augsfeld, significantly fewer than initially announced in November.

This compromise aims to ensure the long-term success of the Augsfeld site while preserving jobs and core competencies. The company remains committed to its mission of providing innovative solutions in the field of drive and control technology.

The revised job cut plan for the Augsfeld site, part of Bosch Rexroth, which specializes in drive and control technology, anticipates the reduction of around 500 positions from the initial 700, as a result of successful negotiations with employee representatives. In the financing aspect, by saving jobs through various methodologies outlined in the "future concept," Bosch Rexroth aims to optimize its business performance in the manufacturing industry.
