Latest Developments in Autonomous Transportation: Collaboration Announced Between Waymo, OSRAM, and Lotus Technology
In the rapidly evolving world of automotive technology, several significant developments have been announced recently. Here's a look at some of the key advancements in the autonomous vehicle and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) sectors.
Lotus Technology and Lotus Robotics Take the Wheel
Lotus Technology, a key player in the autonomous and self-driving vehicle industry, has been making strides in intelligent driving solutions. Their subsidiary, Lotus Robotics, has been providing these solutions to Lynk&Co for their all-electric flagship sedan, the Lynk&Co Z10. The Z10, inspired by "The Next Day" concept car, boasts intelligent driving features such as highway and urban NOA, courtesy of Lotus Robotics.
Lotus Technology's foray into intelligent driving began in 2018 with the commencement of the Company's Vision80 strategy.
OSRAM's SPL S8L91A_3 A01: A Game Changer
OSRAM, another industry heavyweight, has introduced a new laser product, the SPL S8L91A_3 A01. This state-of-the-art infrared high-power SMT laser is designed to improve long-range, high-resolution LiDAR systems for autonomous driving vehicles. The SPL S8L91A_3 A01 offers a performance of 1000 watts peak optical power and an efficiency of up to 30 percent.
Autel's MaxiSYS IA700: A New Era in ADAS Calibration
Autel has released a new ADAS calibration solution, the MaxiSYS IA700 ADAS calibration frame system. This versatile system is suitable for mobile technicians and every type of service shop, regardless of calibration volume, technician expertise, shop space, and business model. The MaxiSYS IA700 offers advanced capabilities, including wheel alignment pre-check, optical positioning, and unlevel floor compensation.
The IA700 also features the Guided ADAS application, which allows for calibrating just-released vehicle models not yet covered by Autel software using Autel system frames and OE tools.
Waymo's Winter Testing and San Francisco's Nightly Honking
Waymo is testing their autonomous vehicles in harsh winter conditions to improve their performance. Test sites include Truckee, CA; Upstate New York; and across Michigan. However, in San Francisco, residents have been reporting instances of vacant Waymo autonomous vehicles honking at each other at night.
Fleximodo's Intelligent Parking Spaces
Fleximodo is planning to equip its intelligent parking spaces with sensors, such as magnetic field sensors and nanoradar, to monitor energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency through smart management and real-time data integration.
Pre-Orders for the IA700 and Lynk&Co Z10 Now Open
The IA700 is available for pre-order now and will start shipping in late September. The IA700 comes in three packages, each offering different capabilities and compatibility with Autel Ultra series tablets. Reservations for the Lynk&Co Z10 started on Aug 15, 2024.
As these advancements continue to roll out, the future of autonomous vehicles and ADAS systems looks promising. Stay tuned for more updates in this exciting field.
