Latest Report: AGEM Index for July 2025
The AGEM Index, a benchmark for the global gaming and amusement equipment industry, experienced a 0.7% decline in July 2025, representing a 13.52-point decrease from the previous month [1][2]. However, this monthly dip did little to dampen the index's overall strong performance, with a significant 32.8% year-over-year increase [3].
Aristocrat, a top company within the sector, played a crucial role in this yearly growth. Its stock surged by 7.5%, adding 48.40 points to the index and helping to offset the July slip [1][2].
Despite Aristocrat's positive contribution, other companies within the index saw mixed results. Seven out of the 10 AGEM Index companies reported stock price increases in the latest month, but Konami Corp. (TYO: 9766) was the largest negative contributor, with a 10.1% decrease in stock price [4].
Elsewhere in the industry, the lottery business of IGT remained on the NYSE under the new name of Brightstar Lottery (NYSE: BRSL) [5]. Meanwhile, the newly split IGT company and Everi went private and were delisted from the NYSE, following an affiliate of private equity giant Apollo Global Management's $6.3 billion acquisition of their gaming and digital units [6].
In a separate transaction, Brightstar Capital Partners completed a $1.1 billion acquisition of PlayAGS, Inc., which also went private and was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) [7].
On a broader market scale, the NASDAQ increased by 2.0 percent compared to the prior month, while the S&P 500 experienced a 0.6 percent increase [8][9]. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 2.0 percent from the prior period in July 2025 [9].
These figures suggest that while the AGEM Index saw a short-term dip in July 2025, the sector as a whole remains resilient and poised for continued growth.
