Law enforcement agencies across the state conducted comprehensive checks on commercial vehicles transporting passengers and cargo - the Düsseldorf Police contributed 11 district offices to this statewide operation - a total of 591 trucks were examined
In a concerted effort to ensure road safety and compliance with transport regulations, the North Rhine-Westphalia Police recently carried out checks on commercial vehicle and goods traffic throughout the state.
The operation, which involved the participation of customs, the Federal Office for Logistics and Freight Traffic, municipalities, and the police, aimed to reduce the number of accidents involving trucks and ensure safety for all road users.
During the operation, a total of 591 trucks were inspected. Regrettably, several violations were discovered. There were 127 instances of speeding violations, 178 instances of following distance violations, and 58 violations of proper cargo securing. Seven drivers were found to be under the influence of intoxicants, and the licenses of three drivers were confiscated. Additionally, there were 56 instances of general technical defects in the vehicles.
Eleven district police authorities assisted the Düsseldorf Police during this operation, with the Düsseldorf Police Presidency coordinating and conducting the operation at nine control points in Grevenbroich, Neuss, Rheurdt, Duisburg, Nettetal, Hünxe, Essen, Mülheim, and Wuppertal.
Police Director Reiner Schiffer expressed satisfaction with the action, stating that these checks are crucial in maintaining safety on the roads. The police plan to conduct such checks regularly to enhance road safety and prevent accidents.
