Maharashtra Unveils Rs 31,628 Crore Relief Package for Flood-Hit Farmers
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has unveiled a massive Rs 31,628 crore relief package for farmers devastated by heavy rains and floods. Around 45 lakh farmers with farmers insurance will receive compensation for their losses, with payments expected before Diwali.
The relief package covers a wide range of damages, including destroyed crops, houses, and livestock deaths, across 253 talukas. Farmers will receive Rs 35,000 per hectare for non-irrigated land and Rs 50,000 per hectare for irrigated land under the crop insurance scheme. Additionally, orchard farmers will receive Rs 32,500 per hectare.
To aid recovery, the government has allocated Rs 10,000 crore for rural infrastructure restoration and Rs 10,000 per hectare for seeds and fertilizers to support the upcoming rabi season. Farmers who lost the top layer of fertile soil will be compensated with Rs 3.47 lakh per hectare. The Rs 6,000 crore package specifically for crop loss is part of this comprehensive relief effort.
The relief package aims to provide comprehensive support to affected farmers, covering various aspects of their losses. With the compensation and aid, farmers can focus on rebuilding and preparing for the next season. The government has assured that the assistance will be distributed before Diwali, providing timely relief to the affected farmers.
