Major Construction Project to Temporarily Alter Rüsselsheim Traffic Routes
Motorists and cyclists in Rüsselsheim should prepare for temporary changes as a major construction project gets underway. The state road L 3040 and accompanying bike paths will undergo renewal, with work expected to be completed by early November.
The project, led by Hessen Mobil Straßen- und Verkehrsmanagement, will see the eastern lane of L 3040 and bike paths renewed over a distance of approximately 1.2 kilometers. The 'Bensheimer Straße' on-ramp will be closed from September 3rd for about four weeks to facilitate cable laying and the installation of barrier-free crossings. A detour will be in place via Astheimer Straße, Nauheimer Straße, Bismarckplatz, and Forsthausstraße. Additionally, the intersection of L 3040 and Hyundai Platz will be closed to traffic from August 29th to September 1st for asphalt work. During this time, a detour will be signposted via Bensheimer Straße, Konrad-Adenauer-Ring, and Kecskemet-Allee. The existing crossings at the intersection will be made barrier-free and bike/pedestrian traffic will be separated.
The total cost of the construction project is approximately 3.4 million euros, with the state of Hesse covering 3.1 million euros and the city of Rüsselsheim contributing approximately 300,000 euros. The eastern bus stop at the intersection of Bensheimer Straße will also be made barrier-free and accessible for visually and mobility impaired persons upon completion.
