ASL Strengthens Construction and Infrastructure Disputes Practice with Merger

Adnan Sundra & Low (ASL), a prominent legal firm in Malaysia, has expanded its construction and infrastructure disputes practice following a strategic merger with local boutique firm Steven Thiru & Sudhar Partnership. The merger, announced in February this year, has positioned ASL as a leading firm for complex, cross-border matters in these sectors.

Kevin Prakash, an expert in building contracts, construction disputes, and dispute resolution, has joined ASL as an equity partner and now leads this new practice area. Prakash, who is a member of the Asian International Arbitration Centre’s Panel of Arbitrators and Adjudicators, brings a wealth of experience to the table.

The merger and the addition of specialists like Prakash form part of ASL’s broader strategy to enhance its dispute resolution capabilities. Earlier in 2025, the firm recruited experienced litigators such as Sudharsanan Thillainathan, Dawn Wong, and Tania Edward, all of whom have now joined ASL from the local boutique firm.

This expansion aims to create comprehensive legal solutions for clients dealing with sophisticated construction and infrastructure disputes, both domestically and internationally. The current status is an actively growing and specialized disputes practice under strong leadership, focused on delivering expertise in construction and infrastructure dispute resolution, including trial, appellate, arbitration, and adjudication matters.

The move is part of ASL’s ongoing strategy to ensure leadership in an ever-evolving legal landscape. The expansion is in response to Malaysia’s growing construction sector and ongoing infrastructure development projects. As a result, ASL now has 35 partners.

This merger and the new area of practice demonstrate ASL’s commitment to expanding its firm’s services. The firm is now expanding into specialized dispute resolution services, with the aim of delivering comprehensive, broad-ranging legal solutions to clients.

  1. The merger and addition of Kevin Prakash, an experienced arbitrator and adjudicator, has allowed ASL to broaden its services, focusing on providing comprehensive legal solutions for complex, cross-border disputes in the construction and infrastructure sectors, which involves the application of both law and finance in business.
  2. With the expansion of their dispute resolution capabilities, ASL aims to offer specialized services that extend beyond traditional legal advice, now encompassing finance, law, and dispute resolution in the context of business, particularly in the dynamic and growing construction and infrastructure sectors of Malaysia.
