Matter Labs and Lagrange team up to direct up to 75% of outsourced verifications
New York, NY - March 20th, 2025 - Chainwire
Decentralized ZK Prover Network, Lagrange, has entered a pivotal partnership with Matter Labs, paving the way for an enhanced decentralized Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Stack transition. Over the next two years, up to 75% of Matter Labs' outsourced proof demand will be directed to Lagrange's Prover Network.
In January 2025, Lagrange successfully demonstrated the feasibility of decentralized proof generation, integrating a decentralized version of ZKsync's ZK Stack prover. This significant milestone has now been cemented through the collaboration with Matter Labs, enabling ZKsync to process a larger portion of its proving demand on a decentralized network.
"Every rollup will be a ZK rollup, and that's the future of Layer 2 scaling," said Ismael Hishon-Rezaizadeh, Co-Founder & CEO of Lagrange. "With this partnership, ZKsync is enabled to lead the charge in a decentralized ZK rollup ecosystem."
The collaboration supports ZKsync's broader ecosystem goals, including fostering more advanced ZK proof techniques and ensuring a more decentralized and resilient ZK Prover Network. This boosts ZKsync's position in the Layer 2 scaling market, enhancing security, proof verification efficiency, and cross-chain functionality for the benefit of DeFi, NFT, and other Web3 applications.
Lagrange, a leader in building decentralized ZK proving infrastructure, aims to unlock significant efficiency, cost savings, and uptime reliability for any ZK application, rollup, or protocol. The company has raised over $17 million in funding and is led by a team of academic experts focusing on cryptographic protocols.
With over $29 billion in total restaked ETH, 85+ top operators, and 400,000 state proofs generated, Lagrange stands at the forefront of blockchain-based cryptography and decentralized applications requiring complex, high-volume data processing.
Matter Labs, a pioneer in scaling Ethereum through zero-knowledge proof technology, plays a critical role in developing the zkSync ecosystem. It's worth noting that zkSync is a leading Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum, which relies on zero-knowledge rollups to provide fast, secure, and low-cost transactions.
