Mazda appoints a Japanese executive as the new Chief Financial Officer for North America
Mazda Announces New CFO for North American Operations
Tatsuro Omura has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), effective Aug. 30, according to a press release. Omura succeeds Takeshi Nishiki, who was previously the CFO of MNAO since Oct. 30, 2020.
Omura joined Mazda in 2005 and has since held various roles in product cost, profit management, and corporate strategy and planning. He previously served as the General Manager of the Business Structure Strategy Department at Mazda Motor Corp. in Hiroshima, Japan. Between 2010 and 2014, Omura worked at Mazda Motor Europe in Germany.
Prior to his promotion to CFO, Omura served as the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at MNAO. Takeshi Nishiki, who was promoted to EVP in November, has now stepped down from the CFO position to focus on his new role.
In his new role, Omura will be responsible for steering the company's financial strategy and operations in the U.S., including production footprint, electrification and hybridization, product planning, and regulatory compliance. He will also drive efforts to increase Mazda's market share and expand Mazda Financial Services offerings.
Omura's appointment comes at a time when Mazda is seeing growth in the U.S. market. The company reported a 7% increase in sales in Q1, and Omura's U.S. market share for Mazda increased to 3.1% in Q1 – the highest since 1990.
The press release states that Omura will play a key role in MNAO and will be responsible for overseeing Mazda's production developments. The details about Omura's appointment can be found on Mazda's website.
Tatsuro Omura's extensive experience and deep understanding of Mazda's global financial landscape were highlighted by Takeshi Nishiki. Omura's appointment is expected to strengthen Mazda's position in the North American market and support the company's continued growth.
