Valencian Community Drives Entrepreneurship and Growth in Spain According to Mazón and Consell's Policies

"Mazón declares that the policies of the Consell place the Valencian Community at the forefront of entrepreneurship and economic development within Spain."

The Comunitat Valenciana, one of Spain's most economically vibrant regions, continues to outperform the national average, with a forecasted GDP growth of 3.0% in 2024 and an anticipated 2.5% in 2025 [1]. These figures place the region's growth slightly above Spain's national average of 2.4%.

The Comunitat Valenciana, home to over 5.4 million people, boasts the fourth highest GDP among Spanish regions, contributing 9.3% to Spain’s total GDP. Despite a GDP per capita that is approximately 14.6% below the national average due to relatively higher population growth compared to economic growth, the region's economic success is undeniable [1].

Sectoral strengths in manufacturing and construction, with manufacturing making up 14.5% of the economy (higher than the national average of 11.9%) and construction also above average (6.7% vs. 5.9%), are key contributors to the region's economic growth [1]. The economy is further bolstered by a strong tourism sector, which led to robust consumption and labour market conditions in 2024, despite setbacks from extreme weather events like the DANA floods [1].

The Comunitat Valenciana's tourism sector has continued to thrive in 2025, with a 4.1% increase in tourists in May compared to the national increase of 1.5%. Record figures were also reached in hotel overnight stays in June, with 3.2 million and an interannual growth of 2.9%, higher than the national average [1].

In addition to these factors, the Comunitat Valenciana has closed the first half of the year as one of the three regions with the highest economic growth in Spain [1]. The region has also attracted significant investments of nearly 10 billion euros in less than two years, with a projected creation of over 40,000 jobs associated with projects such as PowerCo's battery gigafactory, BP's green hydrogen plant in Castellón, Edwards Lifesciences' new headquarters in Moncada, Stadler's tram factory in Albuixech, or the Digital Valley Campus in Picassent, among others [1].

The region has also seen a decrease in unemployment, with the number of registered unemployed persons in July being the lowest since 2008 [1]. The number of companies registered with Social Security in the Comunitat Valenciana reached 155,937 in June, a 0.3% increase year-on-year, contrasting with a -0.4% decrease at the national level [1].

Despite the challenges posed by extreme weather events and the ongoing recovery process, the Comunitat Valenciana is poised for continued growth and success. BBVA Research predicts a growth of 3.2% for the Comunitat Valenciana by 2025 [1]. With its diversified and industry-heavy economy, strong tourism sector, and demographic heft, the Comunitat Valenciana is well-positioned to maintain its significant economic footprint nationally.
