MBDA's Advanced TESEO MK2/E Anti-Ship Missile Enters Serial Production
MBDA has inked a deal with Italy's National Directorate of Naval Armaments for the production of the advanced TESEO MK2/E anti-ship missile. This contract marks a significant milestone, transitioning the programme from development to serial production.
The TESEO MK2/E, an exportable technology, complements MBDA's anti-ship portfolio. It boasts an Active Electronically Scanned Array seeker and modern datalink functions, enabling in-flight control and retasking via satellite communications. This new missile builds on decades of experience with the TESEO family, previously marketed as OTOMAT.
The production run will equip multiple Italian surface combatants, including FREMM EVO frigates, MPCS/PPA multi-role ships, and planned DDX destroyers. The missile can engage very long range naval and land targets, also serving a secondary deep strike role. This deal supports Italy's plans to fit next-generation surface ships with a modern anti-ship and land attack option. Potential buyers include countries such as Greece, France, and Spain.
Lorenzo Mariani of MBDA confirmed that the contract validates the programme's progress and industrial alignment with the Italian Navy.
MBDA's TESEO MK2/E anti-ship missile production contract with Italy signals a strategic move towards equipping next-generation surface ships with advanced weaponry. This deal opens doors for potential exports to other nations, further cementing MBDA's position in the anti-ship domain.
